- Where did you grow up and what brought you to Platte County Weed and Pest?
I grew up in Guernsey and after college at UW I went to work for the Platte County Weed & Pest as the Assistant Supervisor for three years. - How long have you been involved Platte County Weed and Pest?
Since then I have had an interest in weeds and pests, so when Jim Cotterman asked me to be on the board, I was very interested. - What’s the best part of the position?
The best part of the board for me is the opportunity to help the employees control weeds and pests which is also the most challenging part of the position!
- If you could rid Platte County of one Weed or Pest, what would it be and why?
As a board we try to use county funds judiciously to efficiently tackle an ongoing problem. If I could get rid of one weed or pest it would have to be Leafy spurge and/or prairie dogs. Can I pick two? We have neither on our ranch, but I would just as soon keep it that way! - What’s your favorite part of living in Wheatland?
We actually live quite a ways from Wheatland, but the best thing about being part of the community, and especially our community in the hills, is that we know our neighbors and we all help each other. It takes a village…

- Where did you grow up and what brought you to Platte County Weed and Pest?
I grew up in Platte County and have always been a customer of Platte County Weed and Pest; because of this I felt it was important to be on the board. - What’s the biggest challenge of the position?
The biggest challenge, I feel, is trying to help customers with their weed and pest issues; especially when costs can be prohibitive. It’s important to find a balance between affordability and efficacy. - If you could rid Platte County of one Weed or Pest, what would it be and why?
Prairie Dogs! They are so destructive and multiply quickly even though we try so hard to control them. - What’s your favorite part of living in Wheatland?
I love Platte County because it is my home! I love our ranch, community, and the people who live here!
